Offence is in the eye of the beholder?.

A great blog about how libraries have been out under pressure by a tiny minority of parents to pull books from the shelves due to the parents view of unsuitability.

As a parent myself we as a family talk about the issues raised in our children’s lives, whether home life, things they have seen or experienced at school or issues raised in books or films.

They are fairly earnest children and cannot understand that people will make judgements about others based on colour, or weight or differences, but they appreciate that it happens and that it’s not right.

Similarly they understand the Horrible Histories show a violent side to life in the past, but have discussed that they are pleased that the Queen no longer enjoys the privilege of beheading dissenters!

Parenting brings a level of responsibility that should not be passed on to others.
